eee pc Since we’re on the topic of the ASUS Eee PC with Windows XP, I thought I’d post a link to a review of the new unit over at LaptopMag. As mentioned in the previous posting, the Eee PC 4G XP is essentially the same system as the popular Linux model except it now comes with Windows XP Home. Here’s an excerpt from the review:

The Eee PC 4G XP offers the familiarity of Windows at an unbeatable price with only a few trade-offs.

IMHO, $399 is still a bit much to spend for a 900 MHz Celeron M processor machine – unless of course the system came with a larger SSD drive. For a few hundred bucks more, you can get a much more capable notebook with larger storage capacities.. but then again, you’d sacrifice portability somewhat. Is a two pound notebook that big of a difference compared to a five pound notebook? If you lug around the notebook all day long, you betcha! Still… I’d rather see a lower price point someday. (Palm – aren’t you glad you didn’t release the Foleo?)
