hp 2133 mini note

The mini-notebook market continues to grow as HP has announced their new HP 2133 Mini-Note PC designed for the classroom environment (though perfectly fine for other markets as well!). This sub-$500 dollar system weighs a little more than 2.5 lbs and features an 8.9 inch WXGA display and a VIA C7-M processor clocked at 1.6GHz. Other major features include:

  • Anodized aluminum shell
  • HP DuraKeys which feature a clear coating applied over the notebook keyboard designed to protect the finish and printed letters and characters
  • HP 3D DriveGuard which shuts down the hard drive upon sudden movement or shock thanks to a three-axis digital accelerometer chip
  • Scratch-resistant display and magnesium hinge bracket
  • 8.9 inch WXGA display
  • QWERTY full keyboard and touchpad
  • Integrated VGA webcam
  • Choose from three-cell battery or optional six cell battery for longer life
  • Integrated Wi-Fi Certified WLAN
  • Optional Bluetooth
  • Choose from 4GB SSD to regular notebook hard drives

According to LaptopMag which has already published a review of the unit here, the HP 2133 will come in a variety of configurations. The $499 model comes with SuSE Linux while the $599 model comes with Windows Vista Basic.  Here’s what LaptopMag thought of the Mini-Note:

If all you need is a low-cost laptop that can run Windows, you may want to wait for the 9-inch version of the Eee PC. But if you require more from your mini-notebook and don’t mind paying for it, the HP 2133 Mini-Note delivers the goods.

Well look at what ASUS has started with the Eee PC - more and more companies releasing ultra-portable designs at competitive prices. Just what the public needs right? RIGHT :) More vendors, more competition, lower prices at  the end of the day…

As far as the availability of the HP 2133 Mini-Note PC, systems should become available later this month.
