I’ll admit it. I’m not an Apple fanboy per se but I do love the Apple television commercials – especially the ones making fun of PC’s and Windows Vista. Thus I find this parody piece from Lenovo even more hilarious simply because it turns the table on Apple and makes fun of the MacBook Air. Enjoy!

pink dells

Dell announced new pink colored versions of their popular XPS M1330 and M1530 notebook on Monday citing the fact that Pantone identified pink as one of the Top 10 Fashion Colors for Spring 2008. Yes.. pink is apparently in folks! Of course if you’re not happy with Flamingo Pink, you can also choose from Midnight Blue, Tuxedo Black, or PRODUCT (RED).

The 3G iPhone rumors are certainly beginning to pick up and this one’s certainly interesting. Fortune is reporting that AT&T plans on selling the new iPhone for $199 – that’s a $200 dollar discount from the current 8GB iPhone price which is $399 (the 16GB goes for $499). Supposedly, the $199 3G iPhone would only be available at AT&T stores while Apple would continue to sell the iPhone for the regular prices of $399 and $499. If this report is indeed true, then this could indicate Apple is giving up on selling locked iPhones (this would also explain why AT&T would undercut the Apple price by $200 dollars). If this rumor is true, then it’s certainly great news for new and existing AT&T customers as well as other GSM customers out there.

News.com is also speculating that perhaps there could be two versions of the iPhone in the works – one for AT&T and one sold by Apple. What the differences would be if this was indeed true is anyone’s guess at this point.

As a consumer who’s had an iPhone since last June, I would certainly look forward to a $199 3G iPhone. I’m sorry but I’m certainly not willing to pay $400 dollars just to gain 3G support.

image_U110

News.com is reporting that the compact Lenovo IdeaPad U110, which was introduced back in January at CES 2008, is now available at Lenovo.com and will soon be available at various retailers. Of course, I went off to Lenovo.com and promptly found a “coming soon” sign for the U110 but I’m sure it’ll be available shortly.

The U110 features:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo processor running at 1.6GHz
  • 120GB HDD
  • 2GB RAM
  • 11 inch display
  • Weight of 2.4 lbs
  • Windows Vista Home Premium
  • Dolby branded audio with four speakers and integrated subwoofer
  • Built-in webcam with face recognition software
  • Available in red or black

All of this sounds good right? Well here’s the bad news. The U110 has a basic version which costs $1899 which also means higher end systems will of course cost more. That’s a bit pricey for a small compact system featuring only a 1.6GHz Core 2 Duo. I’d be excited if this system was in the $1000 dollar range.

iphone-3g-back-maybe I must admit, I’ve tried to stay away from the 3G Apple iPhone rumor mill this year.. mostly because of the amount of hype that the iPhone received last year. At the same time, I can’t help but stay interested in what I’m reading on the net so I thought I’d pass some of this info on to you in case you’ve missed it this past week. According to Ryan Block over at Engadget, the second generation iPhone is well into the testing phase and several units are already in the hands of some trusted folks. Here’s are some rumored tidbits about the new 3G second gen iPhone:

  • About the same size and shape as the original iPhone though a little thicker
  • 3G and GPS enabled
  • The entire phone is glossy black
  • The volume buttons are now chrome
  • Battery is still not removable (boo!)
  • Headphone jack is finally… get this.. a normal headphone jack that’s not recessed

Note.. the picture shown here and cited in the Engadget article is not necessarily the new second generation iPhone. Nothing is confirmed at all.

Mac Media Center If you’re a fan of Apple TV but you wish you had a bit more functionality (such as PVR capability and DVD playback), then you might be interested in turning the Apple Mac mini into a full fledged media center system using Front Row. Jon Hicks outlines how he did exactly that over here in his blog. Of course, this is a tad bit different (actually very different) from what I did (which was to turn a Mac mini into a Windows Vista system and run Windows Media Center instead) but definitely viable (though I still prefer Windows Media Center over Front Row right now).

Samsung_Blu_Ray_004
