Here’s some good news for would-be Blu-ray drive owners. Lite-On has announced that they have begun a steady shipment of Blu-ray drives and burners in volumes of just under 100,000 units a month. Most of these units appear to be going to the DIY retail channel which is great news for folks who enjoy building their own computer systems.

Having been a fan of Lite-On DVD drives, I do expect the Lite-On Blu-ray drives to be top-notch as well as competitively priced. Lite-On entering the Blu-ray drive market can only be a good thing for consumers if you ask me!
