apple tv delayed Those of you waiting for the new Apple TV software update will need to wait just a little bit longer. Apple announced yesterday that the update wasn’t quite finished as of yet. The free update will be available to existing Apple TV customers in another “week or two.”

The new Apple TV software update will allow users of Apple TV to directly purchase or rent content from iTunes on their Apple TV instead of using a PC or Mac. Users will be able to rent movies from a catalog of over 1000 titles by the end of February including 100 titles in HD format. DVD quality titles will be available for rent at $2.99 a library title and $3.99 for each new release title. HD versions will go for $3.99 for library titles and $4.99 for newly released titles. Content purchased and downloaded to Apple TV are automatically synced back to iTunes on the user’s computer.

In the meantime, Apple did announce that the newly introduced MacBook Air has begun to ship to customers.
