Everex CloudBook – 7 inch model this month with 9 inch model coming in June
The ASUS Eee PC will soon be getting some competition from Everex in the form of the Everex CloudBook. According to Daily Tech, the first versions of the $399 CloudBook will feature a VIA C7M processor, 7 inch display, 30GB HDD, DVI output, and longer battery life than the Eee PC – all while retaining the same size, weight, and screen size as the ASUS counterpart. The 7 inch CloudBook should be appearing at retailers like Wal-Mart and Newegg by the end of this month.
Those of you not in a hurry for an ultra-mobile system might want to wait till June when Everex plans to introduce a 9 inch CloudBook which will also have a screen resolution of 1024 x 600. The asking price for the 9 inch model? Under $500 dollars (which probably means it’ll be priced at $499).
The real question is – will you be willing to shell out $499 for an under powered ultra-portable system? Since I’m a Windows user, I would have to say no.. but I’m guessing there are a number of you out there with a desire to run Linux who might just say yes. I’d rather get a 15 inch Dell Inspiron 1525 for that price.
