Logitech has introduced their new 2.1 speaker system – the Logitech Z Cinéma Advanced Surround Sound System. The Z Cinéma’s goal is to bring high end sound to the PC platform as more and more consumers are looking to computers as their main entertainment system. Despite being a 2.1 speaker system, the Z Cinéma delivers virtual surround sound thanks to the inclusion of SRS TruSurround HD technology.

One nice subtle feature of the Z Cinéma is the usage of a USB connection for pure digital connectivity. This also means you won’t a sound card or integrated sound on your PC in order to use the speaker system. Simply plug the system into your desktop or mobile notebook system and you’re off and running.

Features of the Logitech Z Cinéma include:

• SRS TruSurround HD technology delivering 360 degree surround sound without the need for rear speakers
• Laser-tuned drivers for less sound distortion
• One inch tweeters, three inch ventilated mid-woofers and eight inch long throw bass-reflex enclosed subwoofer
• Media Center remote control
• 24 bit USB digital audio cable
• Headphone jack for private listening
• 3.5 mm auxiliary input
• 180 watts RMS

There are two satellites – each measuring 4.2 x 5.6 x 8.5 inches. The subwoofer measures 7.7 x 10.4 x 13.1 inches and the control pod measures 5.7 x 3.4 x 1.8 inches. The Logitech Z Cinéma will be coming out this month for an MSRP of $299.99.
