Aiptek made ridiculously toy cameras up until recently. I bought one of their products and hated it and swore off aiptek. Then I tried the Go HD. The low light on their camera beats many, if not all of the similar products in its range.

Most tech blogs, if they stoop low enough (in their minds) to mention Aiptek, it's to trash the entire brand. Same with most camcorder forums. And as soon as one person (who may or may not have ever tried one for him/herself) starts talking trash about Aiptek, the rest of the techno-nerdo-sheep join in, again, whether they've ever tried an Aiptek camera. Often, *if* they've ever had an Aiptek, it was several years ago when the company was producing more pencams than anything else.

It's nice to see a tech blog that doesn't automatically dismiss Aiptek based on 1)other tech blogs' opinions (such as Wired.com mindlessly agreeing with Gizmodo on the subject of Aiptek) or 2)the company's toycam history, from which it's clearly attempting to escape.

In any case, this particular blog post is being discussed here:

Nice, this is like the only coverage these new cool looking camcorders have had on any blog as far as I've seen.

1440x1080 progressive 30fps is better than 1920x1080 interlaced 60 fields per second such as the Sony and Panasonic ones. All Sony and Panasonic ones until the most recent were actually shooting 1440x1080 interlaced at 60 fields per second. And Sony and Panasonic always called that being HD camcorders.

I hope Aiptek improved the sound quality. Too bad you didn't take a sample video recording with it using one of your SD cards and put the sample video online for us to see and hear if Aiptek has improved the sound recording quality.
