Latest Macworld rumors: Apple to introduce sub-notebook, support for Blu-ray, and movie rentails
Could Apple be introducing a new sub-notebook, support for Blu-ray, and iTunes movie rentals at the upcoming Macworld? That’s what American Technology Research analyst Shaw Wu seems to think. According to his sources, Apple is expected to do the following at MacWorld:
- Introduce a new sub-notebook system featuring NAND flash RAM as the primary data storage for reduced power consumption, improved reliability, and lower weight. The possible names for the system include “MacBook Mini” or “MacBook Slim”
- Support for Blu-ray in Apple computers. This one has been a long time coming especially since Disney supports Blu-ray and Microsoft supports HD DVD
- Movie rentals via iTunes. This will be a shift in the content made available on iTunes. Up until now, consumers have paid to own content.
Other possible announcements include storage and speed upgrades for other Mac products.
