Logitech sells digital writing business to Destiny Wireless
Logitech is formally exiting the Digital Writing Business as it has announced that U.K. based Destiny Wireless plc will be purchasing Logitech’s digital-writing technology assets for an undisclosed amount of money (which includes the Logitech io2 Digital Writing System). Logitech will continue to manufacture the digital pen for Destiny until the company transitions to its own manufacturing. During the transition, Logitech will continue to sell the io2 Digital Writing System as well as paper and ink refills – as long as supplies last. Logitech will also provide support to customers as long as their products are under warranty.
The Logitech io2 Digital Writing System is based on technology licensed from Swedish-based Anoto Group. Destiny plans on continuing usage of Anoto technology and will be building upon the Logitech digital writing solutions.
Why is Logitech exiting the business? Simple – digital writing wasn’t core to Logitech’s strategic business.
