Pulse~LINK launches CWave UWB HDMI-Over-Coax and Wireless HDMI Home Theater Solutions
Here’s some pretty exciting news from a company called Pulse~LINK Inc. They’ve announced their first production ready reference designs utilizing their CWave HDMI-Over-Coax and Wireless HDMI product line. With these reference designs, consumer electronic (CE) device manufacturers can soon begin to roll out solutions enabling “real-time high definition audio and video distribution throughout the home with a guaranteed Quality-of-Service (QoS)”. The key with this technology is Pulse~LINK’s desire for a “No New Wires” solution which means you’ll be able to transmit high definition audio/video content using either existing coax cabling or through ultra-wideband wireless technology. According to the press release here, video data is encoded using the JPEG2000 video codec which is the same codec used by movie theaters for “Digital Cinema.” There are two solutions – the CWave UWB HDMI-Over-Coax (PL3305 RDK) solution and the CWave UWB Wireless HDMI solution.
