So just what the heck is Dell doing with their new website – Zingspot.com ? According to this News.com blog posting, Dell recently registered the domain name and applied for a trademark on the name. In a document filed to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Zingspot.com is described as “an online consumer portal for digital entertainment content acquisition and distribution.” Interesting eh? Undoubtedly Zingspot has something to do with Zing Systems which was acquired by Dell back in August and specialized in streaming audio software. It’ll be interesting to see what exactly Dell does with Zingspot.com – is it going to be a content service offering? Will it be tied to a new Dell product? Will it be yet another media store front like iTunes, Rhapsody, or the Zune Marketplace? Hard to say what will happen but with CES coming up, things might be afoot sooner than later.
