T-Mobile Germany to offer contract-less iPhone for… $1478
T-Mobile Germany announced today that they would comply with a preliminary injunction issued by a court at the request of a rival carrier – Vodafone. Vodafone filed a suit yesterday to stop T-Mobile from offering the Apple iPhone tied to a contract plan – claiming that this violates German laws. In response, T-Mobile has agreed to offer the iPhone to customers in Germany without having to sign a T-Mobile contract. One small catch. It’ll cost you roughly $1478 dollars (999 Euro) to get the unlocked version of the iPhone in Germany. Uh.. yeah.. nice eh?
It’s funny of course. There’s a law that requires T-Mobile German to offer mobile phones untied to a contract yet there’s no law that says it needs to price the phone within a certain range. So now everyone’s happy eh?
