AT&T to launch Samsung SGH-A747 SLM mobile phone
AT&T finally joins the download music-over-the-air club with the soon to be introduced Samsung SGH-A747 “SLM” mobile phone. The Samsung SLM which will come out on November 23rd is the first mobile phone for AT&T capable of downloading new music over their high speed wireless network – specifically from the Napster service. You can purchase music from Napster directly from the SLM mobile phone – there’s no need for a computer here. From within the SLM, you’ll be able to choose from over 5 million songs within Napster’s library of music. You don’t even need to be a Napster member to purchase music. Music will cost $1.99 per song or $7.49 for a series of five songs. This is on par with Verizon Wireless prices but double the cost of Sprint’s fees and definitely double those found on PC platforms.
Features of the Samsung SLM mobile phone include the following:
- Measures 3.96 x 1.99 x 0.51 inches and weighs 3.17 oz
- 2 megapixel digital camera
- 3G network support
- 176 x 220 screen
- Supports AT&T Video Share service for one way video calling
- Priced at $149.99 with contract and comes with 512MB MicroSD card and a 3.5 mm adapter for the headphone jack
