BookSnap 2

BookSnap

Do you have a large library of books at home or in your organization that you’d like to preserve somehow? Well check out this new product from Atiz Innovation called the BookSnap. According to Atiz, the BookSnap is the first digital book ripper designed for individual consumers. Priced at $1595, the BookSnap transforms printed books into PDF formats - allowing users to access their favorite books on devices such as laptops, PDAs, or an eBook reader.

So how does it work exactly? BookSnap utilizes two digital cameras for image capture rather than a scanner. You simply then place your book into the V-shaped cradle. A v-shaped transparent platen is then lowered to make sure the pages are nice and flat. An external PC then commands the two digital cameras to take pictures of the two pages and then each image is immediately sent back to the PC for editing purposes. Once you’re finished with the book at hand, BookSnap will output all  images in a single PDF file. You can see an graphic tutorial here.

The Atiz BookSnap is available for $1595 and can be purchased at http://www.atiz.com.
