vuuduui LaptopMag has published a review of the Vudu set-top box here on their website. The Vudu is arguably one of the best implementations of downloadable movie content to your television set thus far. Setting up the box is simple enough – you simply connect the device to your home network, plug in the Vudu to your television set, and then power things up. Once plugged in, Vudu provides access to 5000+ movies which can be purchased or rented and then downloaded over the Internet. Here’s the verdict from LaptopMag:

Assuming you do most of your movie watching at home, Vudu provides a satisfying experience for those who don’t have the time or patience to deal with mail-delivery DVD services like Netflix. And it’s the most elegant solution yet for bringing movies into your abode via the Internet. While we give the technology an A-grade, the content selection for now is more like a B. If Vudu adds TV-show hits and can somehow convince the movie studios to offer high-def movies–and end the stupid Blu-ray/HD-DVD format war–this set-top will be much more compelling.

While the Vudu is an excellent idea, the ultimate key to success for the Vudu will be the content. If they can get a wider assortment of content available AND if they can get native HD content available, then the device looks to be a winner. About the only thing that can compete directly with Vudu is the Xbox 360 which also allows you to purchase and download content directly to the console.
