Looking for a bit more oomph from your digital music? Check out the newly announced Targus SoundUP High Definition Sound Enhancer. The device connects to your digital music source, and then separates and reprocesses the music with the goal of delivering a three-dimensional sound envelope.

According to Targus, SoundUP attempts to “recreate the lost audio content and quality due to compression.” The device utilizes a Phantom Technologies patented circuit to enhance the sound quality from 20 to 25 %. The device comes with a powered audio-out splitter which allows up to two headphones to be connected to the SoundUP. SoundUP features an in-line volume control and is powered by a single AAA battery. The device measures 3 x 7/8 x 1.5 inches and weighs less than 2 oz.

The suggested retail price for the Targus SoundUP is $29.99 although the Targus website lists it for $39.95 – go figure.
