eee pc The ASUS Eee PC is just around the corner folks. DigiTimes is reporting that ASUS will begin shipping the ultra low-cost notebook to clients in the U.S., Europe, China, and Taiwan starting in mid-September. Initial shipments are in the 20,000 unit ranges according to sources within the company. Initial customers interested in the new Eee PC include educational markets, insurance companies, and of course those vertical emerging markets (which could mean anything really).

Prices for the Eee PC will be $199, $239, $349, and $369 depending on the configuration. Mainstream models will be in the $349 price range with most of the initial shipments encompassing this range.

Back in June, we reported that the Eee PC specs included a 7 inch display, an Intel mobile CPU, Ethernet connectivity, 56K modem, Wi-Fi support, integrated flash storage, 300K pixel video camera, HD audio, integrated speakers and microphone, and a 3 hour battery life.
