Genius announced a new digital photo frame product earlier this week called the PF-A01. The frame features a large 10.4 inch display and comes in either an oak or walnut finish. Key features of the PF-A01 include:

• Multi-picture slide show capability
• Playback button that shows up to four pictures at different speeds on one screen
• Play back MP3s and AVI Motion-HPEG video
• Display pictures in landscape or portrait modes
• Store up to 700 pictures in its 128MB internal flash memory
• Supports six types of memory cards – CF, SD, MMC, MS, MS-Pr, and MD
• Supports USB host, so you can connect external USB drives
• Real time clock and calendar functions
• Auto photo resizing
• Remote control
• Remote control slot found on the back of the frame to save space

What’s interesting is how Genius emphasized that the display is a 4:3 display as opposed to a widescreen 16:9 display. While this will work nicely with nearly all digital images captured today, one has to wonder whether images are eventually going to move to a wider 16:9 format in the future (though that has consequences for printers also).
