MobileLite If you’re like me, then you’re probably swamped with all sorts of media card formats – from SD cards to CF cards to microSD cards to MMC media. Now, Kingston Technology is selling a new device called the MobileLite 9-in-1 Reader designed to make it easy for you to exchange data from cards between mobile phones, computers, laptops, cameras, PDAs etc.

The MobileLite 9-in-1 Reader has a USB connector for device connection and memory expansion slots on both sides of the device. On side A, you get slots for SD/SDHC, MMC, MMCmobile, RS MMC, and MMCplus. On side B, you get slots for microSD, MMCmicro, and miniSD formats. Curiously, there is no slot for CompactFlash or Memory Stick formats. I suppose Kingston wanted to get this device compact.

Insert the reader into your computer’s USB port and you’ll see three drive letters pop up. No external power source is required than what is available via the USB port. The reader measures 3.04 x 1.16 x 0.6 inches and has a 9MB/sec read rate and a 4MB/sec write rate.

The reader by itself is being sold for $11 dollars.

The reader with a 1GB microSD card is being sold for $29 dollars

The reader with a 1GB SD cad is also being sold for $29 dollars.
