Samsung introduces first LCD display with DisplayPort Video Interface
Samsung also announced the world’s first LCD panel using the next-generation video interface – DisplayPort. DisplayPort is a new connector interface between monitors and PCs that is officially sanctioned by VESA. DisplayPort is designed to ultimately replace DVI, LVDS and eventually the VGA port.

- DisplayPort interface transmits graphics data at a total data rate of 10.8 Gbps
- Supports up to 2560 x 1600 resolution without any color smear
- Requires only a single DisplayPort interface as opposed to needing two DVI ports
- Utilizes new four-lane, 2.7Gbps/lane interface chip designed jointly with Genesis Microchip inc.
- The interface technology processes 2560 x 1600 pixels of graphics data at up to 10 bits of color depth or 1.07 billion colors.
- Supports proprietary Super Patterned Vertical Alignment LCD technology for 180 degree viewing angle and 300 nits of brightness
Samsung reports that this 30 inch panel will begin mass production in the second quarter of 2008.
