JVC introduces HD Everio GZ-HD3 60GB camcorder
JVC has introduced a new high definition camcorder called the HD Everio GZ-HD3. The GZ-HD3 combines a 3-CCD image sensor, high definition video recording and a 60GB hard drive into a compact chassis that fits in the palm of your hand. Unlike other HD video camcorders, the HD Everio GZ-HD3 records video at an unusual resolution of 1440 x 1080. Here are the main features of the GZ-HD3:
- 3-CCD Camera system. The camcorder utilizes three 16:9 progressive scan CCDs – each dedicated to one of the three primary colors – red, green, blue. The lens block uses CCD pixel shift technology to increase horizontal and vertical resolution
- Image processing is driven by JVC’s HD Gigabrid Engine which processes images from the progressive CCDs in native progressive to maintain as much quality as possible. It applies five different noise reduction technologies to improve vertical resolution by up to 30 percent.
- The GZ-HD3 uses a Konica Minolta HD lens. The zoom lens features an ultra-compact hybrid aspherical lens system using low dispersion glass
- 60GB HDD for up to 7 hours of recording
- XP record mode – 1440 x 1080i with VBR (max 30 Mbps) – you get 5 hours
- SP record mode – 1440 x 1080i with VBR (max 22 Mbps) – you get 7 hours
- 1440CBR – 1440 x 1080i with CBR (approx. 27 Mbps) – you get 5 hours
- Lightweight design – 27 percent smaller than the GZ-HD7
- Weighs 1.5 lbs
- Includes HDMI and component outputs
- Standard AV-S terminals that output a down-converted SD signal
- USB and i.LINK connectors
- Supports JVC CU-VD40 HD Everio SHARE STATIONS via USB
- Various shooting assist and manual functions
- SD card slot
- Automatic Video Light
- Quick Power Off
- Built in lens cover
- 2.8 inch 16:9 widescreen clear bright LCD monitor

As mentioned above, the HD Everio GZ-HD3 supports the CU-VD40 HD Everio SHARE STATION.
