HP Pavilion Media Center TV m8120n PC – quad cores for $1149.99
Need further proof that quad core processors are ready for prime time usage? Check out the HP Pavilion Media Center TV m8120n PC. This system comes with an Intel Core 2 Quad Processor model Q6600 running at 2.4GHz, 3GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 7350 LE graphics, 640GB of SATA HDD space, a DVD burner with LightScribe technology and high definition audio – all for a low price of $1149.99. Folks – we’re talking quad processors and 3GB of RAM for $1150. Why would I build my own home theater PC when I could just buy this box? Of course if you really want a chassis that fits with your AV equipment, you could also buy a standalone chassis and rip the mobo, processor, and accessories from the m8210n and pop it into the chassis.
CNET (via CNN.com) published a review of the system and finds the following:
While HP’s own Pavilion Slimline or Apple’s Mac Mini might be better fits for most people looking for a PC to pair with their plasma, the m8120n is a great buy if you need a high-end PC that can do pretty much everything outside of gaming.
