I4U reviews the Sprint Novatel Wireless Ovation U720 EV-DO modem
I4U.com has published a review of the Sprint Novatel Wireless Ovation U720 EV-DO Modem here on their website. The Novatel Wireless Ovation U720 is a USB EV-DO modem which plugs into your notebook allowing you access to the Sprint high speed data network. Specs for the U720 include the following:
- GPS chipset embedded inside
- Support for EV-DO Revision A
- Flip up antenna
- Measures 3.4 x 1.5 x 0.7 inches and weighs only 1.7 oz
The real bummer is that the U720 could potentially use two USB ports on your notebook – especially if a single USB port doesn’t provide enough juice for the modem.
Here’s the verdict from I4U.com:
If you are after a mobile broadband connection and are in a Sprint EV-DO Rev A area the Sprint Novatel Wireless Ovation U720 is simply a fantastic device. However, if you live in a rural area or one that lacks Rev A service be prepared for slower than dial up access speeds. In short, if you don’t live in an EV-DO Rev A area the Sprint Novatel Wireless Ovation U720 is nearly worthless in my testing.
