Windows Home Server logo I’d like to congratulate the Microsoft Windows Home Server Team! They’ve finished up “Windows Home Server” earlier than expected and the platform has gone RTM (”Release to Manufacturing”) as of Monday. Initial hardware manufacturers coming out to support Windows Home Server include HP, Gateway, LaCie, Iomega, and Fujitsu-Siemens. You can roll your own Home Server box through the System Builders channel or you can simply just buy a pre-configured box from one of the above manufacturers.

This is all pretty exciting stuff right now – especially since the first release candidate just hit the scene a little over a month ago now. Heck – I’m still writing up the articles on RC1!!

Microsoft will be delivering Windows Home Server first to it’s OEM partners (they do have to build the systems for sale you know). The evaluation version as well as the System Builders’ version will become available in the next several months.

You can read more about the RTM day for the Windows Home Server team here on their team blog (including a toast given to them by their GM).

Here’s the team photo from their blog:

Again – congrats to WHS and we’re looking forward to seeing products come out in support of this platform.
