If there’s one thing I hate about converting videos into H.264 format, it’s the time it takes to do the encoding process. It just takes so darn LONG!!! Well now folks on the Mac platform can get some added help in the form of the elgato turbo.264. This USB stick is actually a full fledged hardware video encoder. You simply plug the device into your Mac’s USB port and then watch your encoding jobs take off. According to elgato, the turbo.264 can speed up video encoding up to four times faster on Macs with Intel Core processors inside. On older Macs, the acceleration is exponentially faster.

The folks at Digital Trends posted a review of the elgato turbo.264 here on their website and found the following:

It could save you hundreds of dollars in upgrade costs, and depending on your system configuration, the Turbo.264 could literally save you hundreds or thousands of video-conversion hours per year. At only $99 USD retail, the Turbo.264 is a fantastic assistive device.
