How many of you out there would love to have the iPod features found on the iPhone in a separate device that was strictly for the iPod only? I bet a large number of you would want that right? Who wants to pay $499/$599 for just the iPod features anyhow! Well according to a Piper Jaffray report released today, analysts are predicting that Apple will soon release an updated high end iPod that will include a widescreen model looking very similar to the iPhone – minus the phone and data features. Truth is – the iPod has been sitting idly by for some time now and the lineup is due for a new refresh. The iPhone isn’t necessarily that refresh since it includes much more functionality than media playback AND it restricts people to AT&T. However, the iPhone does indeed point to a direction that Apple can take the iPod lineup. Piper Jaffray estimates that a new iPod featuring a touchscreen display running OS X could sell for $299. I’d get one if that came out! Could these rumored iPods make it out by the next MacWorld?
