I'm stumped. I can't even get out of the starting gate. I immediately get an error saying my system only has 128mb of memory and needs at least 256mb. My system has 4gb. I've gone through the control panel and it clearly shows the memory is recognized. Any thoughts?

Hi Dave,<br> Unfortunately I don't have any good thoughts for this one. I haven't installed WHS in quite some time - I actually went ahead and purchased an HP MediaSmart server (EX470) and it works wonderfully. Hope you got passed the problem!!

At step 7, regardless of the server name I enter, I get an error message saying that name is already in use on the network (which actually isn't true). SO I'm stuck. Any ideas how to resolve this?

Hello,

Nice to see the screenshots of your installation. I'm trying to get de Windows Home Server installed too. But I have the following problem. Maybe you can help me to find a solution for this. After preparing installation de server reboot's but after the reboot de server starts the beginning setup again (formatting my harddisk).

I hope someone can help, it's look very nice.

[...] Welcome to part 2 of our look into the Windows Home Server Release Candidate 1 platform. In Part 1 of our series, I took a look at what it took to setup and install Windows Home Server (WHS). The system used for our WHS setup was an old Shuttle XPC system with a 2.4 GHz Pentium 4 processor, 512MB of RAM, and a lone 120GB hard drive. Installing WHS was fairly a straightforward process but getting the server up and running was just one step in the overall process. The next step is to get WHS ready for use by computers on a network and deploying the Windows Home Server Connector software on networked PCs. WHS’s main purpose is to provide a central location for all of your digital content - whether it’s multimedia or otherwise. In addition to offering a central file server, Windows Home Server is capable of monitoring the health of networked PCs as well as backing up the data on the systems. Thus to get things going, we’re going to take a look at the Windows Home Server Connector software, what it takes to maintain and administer WHS, what it takes to set up users, share files, and backup your systems.
I used an old shuttle machine for a similar test setup.

I had forgotten that my shuttle has some wierd NVidia bridge controller that windows has never supported out of the box, wheich means that you don't get networking until after a driver has been installed. Luckily I was able to get the Windows 2003/xp driver from NVidia's web site, copy it to a USB drive, and install it from there. The front console being essentially windows 2003 made that part familiar.
