Apple and AT&T announce final iPhone rate plans
Apple and AT&T finally introduced the voice and data plans for the upcoming iPhone which will be launched this coming Friday. Speculations had surfaced on the net yesterday about what the final data pricing would be. Conveniently enough, Apple and AT&T then decided to announce the final pricing schemes today. A nice coincidence eh?
So let’s get down to it. The basic lowdown is this – iPhone customers can choose from any of the new AT&T plans or pick from existing plans that are being offered today. Basically you have a lot of choice.
For the individual there are six new plans broken down into how many minutes you want for voice.
Individual plans:
- $59.99 plan includes 450 minutes, 200 SMS text messages, and 5000 Nights and Weekend Minutes
- $79.99 plan includes 900 minutes, 200 SMS text messages, and unlimited nights and weekend minutes
- $99.99 plan includes 1350 minutes, 200 SMS text messages, and unlimited nights and weekend minutes
- $119.99 plan includes 2000 minutes, 200 SMS text messages, and unlimited nights and weekend minutes
- $169.99 plan includes 4000 minutes, 200 SMS text messages, and unlimited nights and weekend minutes
- $219.99 plan includes 6000 minutes, 200 SMS text messages, and unlimited nights and weekend minutes
All six of the individual plans include unlimited data (email and web), the new visual voicemail feature, rollover minutes, and unlimited mobile to mobile. Perhaps the most disappointing feature is the 200 SMS text message limit on all three plans. That’s just a bit lame don’t you think?
For families, you can get the following plans:
- $80 plan includes 700 minutes, 200 SMS text messages, and Unlimited nights and weekends
- $100 includes 1400 minutes, 200 SMS text messages, and unlimited nights and weekends
- $120 includes 2100 minutes, 200 SMS text messages, and unlimited nights and weekends
- $160 includes 3000 minutes, 200 SMS text messages, and unlimited nights and weekends
- $210 includes 4000 minutes, 200 SMS text messages, and unlimited nights and weekends
- $310 includes 6000 minutes, 200 SMS text messages, and unlimited nights and weekends
All three of the family plans include the same common features such as unlimited data (email/web), visual voicemail, rollover minutes, and unlimited mobile to mobile.
If you’re an existing customer of AT&T, you can certainly keep your current plan. There are three upgrades to your plan that you can choose from.
- $20 more gets you unlimited data, visual voicemail, and 200 SMS text messages
- $30 more gets you unlimited data, visual voicemail, and 1500 SMS text messages
- $40 more gets you unlimited data, visual voicemail, and unlimited text messages
Phew.. that’s it for now. You can read more about it here on Apple’s website.
