IMO, the Medion UMPC is on the right track in terms of size and form: screen and slide up keyboard. But the UMPC concept has a long way to go.

Unfortunately, the Medion screen quality is terrible and the touchscreen does not extend to the full size of the screen(a huge problem). The unit is fatally under-powered both in CPU and RAM to run Vista. The battery life stinks. The keypad is pretty good for small tasks.

The Samsung is much too large and it doesn't have an integrated keyboard. You might as well carry a laptop.

Until these UMPCs can provide usable, integrated keyboards, HI-POWERED CPUs, 2gigs of RAM, and 12 hours of battery life...they are only useful for people with specialized requirements or geeks wanting to enhance their personal cool factor.

I am using the Sony Vaio 280 UX for very specific requirements. It has a beautiful screen - but is just too small for these aging eyes.

OH YES, Microsoft pays only lip service to the actual OS requirements of the UMPC platform they avidly promoted for a few weeks. ...but all they produced is more BLOATWARE.
