Not only did Samsung introduce a one terabyte 3.5 inch hard drive yesterday, they also announced their new SpinPoint N2 series 1.8 inch hard drives which feature a max of 120 GB of storage space and 4200 rpm spin speeds. Features of the new N2 series include:

  • Fastest boot times, lowest power consumption, and quietest operations for the 1.8 inch market
  • Drive capacities between 80 GB to 120 GB
  • 120 GB is the highest available capacity for the 1.8 inch market today
  • Designed and developed for portable consumer electronic applications in mind
  • PATA/ZIF interface
  • 8MB cache memory
  • 15 ms seek time
  • two second Drive Time to Ready
  • MSRP of $249

Now here’s something else to consider. Now that 120GB 1.8 inch drives are available.. could we possibly see Apple iPods with 120GB drives down the road?
