Sony BDP-S300 Blu-ray disc player now available
So did anyone else notice that the newly announced Sony BDP-S300 Blu-ray player was now available at places like BestBuy online? The stores themselves were not stocked with the unit ( I checked the West LA location on Sunday afternoon) but the online site had the new player listed at $499.99 which is the MSRP for the player. In fact, SonyStyle.com now has the player listed for sale also here. (It’s listed as in-stock now).
Features of the new BSP-S300 include:
- BD-ROM playback support
- Supports DVD-Video, DVD+R/+RW/-R/-RW, CD playback
- AVC-HD Media playback with x.v.Color output
- Supports MPEG-2/MPEG4-AVC/VC-1
- Full HD 1080/60p and 24p True Cinema Video Output
- DVD upscaling to 1080p via HDMI
- BRAVIA Theater Sync
- Cinema Tuned Picture Presets
- Dolby Digital Plus decoding capability
- Dolby Digital and dts 5.1 channel output
- Multi channel 192KHz/24 bit Audio D/A converters
- BD-Java Interactive capability
- Popup Menu
- Quick Setup
- Screen Saver
- MP3 and JPEG playback
I’m waiting for additional reviews of the unit but I’m considering getting the player – especially since I really would like a new 1080p capable DVD player for the home (I’ve been using the Xbox 360 for DVD playback and I’m just not happy with DVD quality on the Xbox 360).
