If you’re like me, then you still have a tower PC lying around the house – actually the workstation that I work on at home is in fact a self made tower system. Sorry.. I love small form factor PC’s and all but there’s something sweet about a foreboding system like a tower box. Anyhow, I digress. If you do indeed have a tower system, then chances are you have available 5.25 inch external drive bays. You know – the ones with external faceplates that we never know what to do with especially since you really need at most two DVD drive bays these days (or really just one). So what do you do with those bays? Check out this ExtremeTech article which provides several options on what you can fill those bays with. I like their first option – the $50 dollar AeroCool Infinite which provides two additional USB ports, a multimedia card reader, and front audio ports. But wait – there’s more. The center of the Infinite is a locking removable portable hard drive enclosure. Now that’s pretty sweet.  In any case, make sure to check out the article for additional drive bay ideas.

Darn it – I had a nicely written posting right before this but the power went out briefly. Argh!
