Philip’s Apple TV like device?
Here’s a peculiar device. It looks a little like the Apple TV – except it’s not from Apple – it’s from Philips. This brushed aluminum device is somewhat similar in concept to the Apple TV – minus of course the online store portion. The Philips device comes with an internal 40 GB hard drive which can be used to store multimedia content locally to the system. It’s also capable of streaming content from networked systems. On the back side, you’ll find an HDMI port, an optical output, and a USB port. Oh – one thing better than the Apple TV – it actually comes with an on/off switch. No word on lots of things though. We have no idea what file formats it will support, what kind of interface it will and how much it will cost. Heck we don’t even know the name of the product but what we do know is – people like copying Apple designs sometimes! Sorry – but I still think Apple TV’s design takes the cake here.
