Hah - I used to be much more of an Apple hater in the past. I've learned to like many of their products over the years. Actually, I think a lot of the PC vs. Mac arguments are really just for the sake of the argument. I have no doubt that I someday get myself a Mac system. I've been thinking about it for a few years - especially since they moved to the Intel platform.
Anyhow - back to the point of the original posting. I just feel that reviews need to be careful when they make statements about speeds. I used to review motherboards and processors over at WhiningDog.NET and if there's one thing you learn - it's about being careful with your work. You need to come up with accurate reproducable results. You need to show that only one variable changes between tests - otherwise how can you actually prove that one thing led to the result you got?

So my beef boils down to - live download speeds are just not an accurate representation of any piece of software. Geez - what if some kid at Wired clogged the Internet pipe while the test was going on? If you're going to write a performance oriented review, take the time to analyze the results and look all around. That's all I ask.

I was going to write a review of the browser myself - but more about it's functionality and less on speed. It's in beta by goodness sakes!!!!

OK.. enough venting. Don't say that I love Macs though! (though I do use my Apple TV often!)

I'll end with this note. I hate iTunes and I hate the Zune software app too. :)

Wow, thanks for commenting on that, especially since I KNOW you're not a Apple fanboy, Anyone who reads your site even casually (like me) can tell that, so thanks for standing up for accuracy in reporting. Too bad most of the net is just this fan or that fan twisting numbers to their advantage. Hmmm, kind of like life??
