Toshiba’s out with some not so great news for HD DVD fans. They’ve lowered their guidance for HD DVD player sales for the 2007 calendar year. Toshiba expects to now sell approximately 1 million HD DVD players this year – down 44 percent from their previous expectations of 1.8 million units. Toshiba had previously expected to sell as many as 3 million units of HD DVD players and recorders worldwide by the end of the business year to March of 2008. Unfortunately, the Blu-ray vs. HD DVD format war has dampened sales for HD DVD players thus far as many consumers are simply waiting things out before committing themselves to an expensive player.
