Oh yes.. I nearly forgot (maybe because I don’t own a Mac nor do I develop software for the Mac) – it’s that time of the year again – it’s the Apple WorldWide Developer’s Conference in San Fran. You can see up to the minute blog updates over at MacRumors.com or at News.com. I’ll try and post up interesting tid-bits that pop up along the way here.
- Apparently the largest WWDC ever – 5000+ attendees
- PC guy was up on stage pretending to be Steve
- 1 Engineer for every 4 attendees here
- Intel basks a bit under the limelight
- EA games is coming back to the Mac platform with several titles including C&C 3, Battlefield 2142, Need for Speed Carbon, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Madden 08 and Tiger Woods Golf 08
- ID software and John Carmack show off new gaming engine utilizing 20GB of textures
- There are ten new features in Leopard
- New Desktop with new background, menu bar and dock
- New tool to clean your desktop called Stacks
- New addition to dock called “Downloads” which will track what you’ve downloaded through browser
- Stacks can be used as an application launcher
- New Finder feature with a new siderbar. You can now search on other computers in your network. Spotlight improvements.
- .Mac subscribers can share documents with other Macs over the Internet
- Cover Flow will appear on new Finder – allow you to browse documents similar to browsing for content on iTunes
