Comments on: Sopranos Finale Rundown – SPOILERS

First, let me commend foon for the astounding insight that “Tonyâ€™s dead. It ended with his cortex.” This hit me like a brick, and it’s still haunting me.

Think about it. The whole series starts, is centered on, and ends with Tony. Any character other than Tony could have left the show; Tony leaves, and it’s over. So Chase brilliantly managed to visually communicate Tony’s inner life, summed up in the highly-symbolic final scene: Tony’s focus on his family, his desire to keep Meadow out of the life and keep AJ in (like father, like son), the FBI (the guy with the baseball cap, one of their favorites), the two black guys (it was two black guys who made the attempted hit), and the mobster going into the bathroom.

That said, if there is a movie coming, we’d better find out that it was another failed hit, and that Tony had been in a coma resulting from a bullet to the head.

[...] Tonight is the series finale to the HBO series – the Sopranos. For those of you who didn’t catch the finale and won’t be able to see it on west coast time (which is coming up in about 17 minutes or so), I did a quick run down of the show while it occurred during the east coast showing. Not a problem – I was able to watch the east coast timeslot even though I’m living out here in the west coast. I was about to scream when the ending happened because I thought my DVR cut out too early or something – as it turns out, it was done intentionally. 4-5 seconds of black then credits. We’ll never know.
