LaptopMag has published a review of the newly announced HTC Touch (or what I’d like to think of as a “wannabe iPhone”). The Touch comes with what HTC calls “TouchFLO” technology – a finger sweeping based user interface that allows you to navigate quickly between applications, contacts etc. Yes – it’s HTC’s response to the upcoming iPhone. Other specs include:

  • 2.8 inch LCD touch screen with backlight and 240 x 320 resolution with 65K colors
  • 201 MHz processor
  • 2 megapixel CMOS digital camera
  • Windows Mobile 6 Professional with Direct Push Email and HTML email support
  • Tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE 900, 1800, 1900
  • WiFi, 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.0
  • Measures 99 x 58 x 13.9 mm and weighs 112 grams with the battery
  • 1GB microSD card included
  • 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM
  • 1100 mAh rechargeable lithium ion battery
  • Available in soft black or wasabi green

So what does LaptopMag think?

While we would’ve liked to see a snappier processor under the hood, the HTC Touch delivers on its promise of an innovative interface. The TouchFLO navigation is far from a gimmick; it’s an extremely useful technology that’s smooth and effortless to use. … Power users and messaging addicts should look elsewhere, but the Touch is the perfect little phone for people who want on-the-go Outlook and multimedia access with a little flash.
