I think I’ve found the near perfect computer case for that newly announced SiS Churchill motherboard – it’s called the ML02 and it’s from the folks at SilverStone. This case is what SilverStone calls a mulimedia MoDT chassis. Those of you not familiar with the term MoDT, it means “Mobile on Desktop”. The concept is simple – mobile processors on a desktop system. Why a mobile processor? Simple – they more power efficient – which translates to a cooler and quieter system – perfect for home theater pc’s and home server environments. With that said, here are the specs to the ML02:

  • Acrylic front panel
  • 4 mm aluminum frames
  • 0.8 SECC body
  • Supports MoDT Micro-ATX, Mini-ITX, DTX
  • 1 Slim external optical drive bay
  • 1 – 3.5 ” drive bay or 1 – 2.5 ” drive bay with vibration dampening
  • 1 rear 50 mm exhaust fan running at 2200 rpm and outputting 19 dBA
  • 3 side 50 mm fan slots
  • 1 expansion slot with 1 PCI riser card and 1 PCI-Ex16 riser card
  • 2 USB 2.0 ports
  • 1 IEEE 1394 port
  • 1 audio port
  • 1 microphone
  • 52 in 1 card reader (52??!?!?!)
  • Fanless 120W DC/DC board and AC adapter
  • Measures 397 x 82 x 375 mm

Pop in a small mobo with a cool running mobile processor and you’ve got yourself a sweet little multimedia box. Hmm.. possible project down the road!
