Alienware introduces the Hangar18 HD Entertainment Center
Alienware is right out of the gate with the first system based off of the new AMD LIVE! Home Cinema platform. It’s called the Alienware Hangar18 HD Entertainment Center and it’s basically a uber-htpc system for the digital living room. Here are the basics - the system comes with an energy efficient AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core processor, HD DVR capabilities, support for up to four tuners, 5.1 surround sound receiver, integrated 200W per channel D2Audio amplifier, DVD/CD player/burner, HDMI output, and up to 2 TB of storage.
OK.. let’s take a step back shall we? One look at the Alienware Hangar18 and you’ll realize that it belongs in your home theater cabinet. It’s a smooth looking system designed to look like a home theater component. About the only thing giving away it’s PC like tendencies is the Alienware logo on the upper left hand corner. Powering this system is Windows Vista’s Windows Media Center application which provides a single interface for managing all of your digital media content.
