Xbox 360 owners and Pac-Man fans rejoice. Microsoft and Namco Bandai Games America have announced that there will be a new version of the classic arcade Pac-Man game called “Pac-Man Championship Edition“. The new game will feature the first new mazes in 26 years! (Yes.. that means I was simply 6 years old when the first Pac Man came out). The new title will be available starting on Wednesday morning via Xbox Live Marketplace. It’ll cost you 800 Microsoft points to purchase the game.

The two companies made the announcement at the Pac-Man World Championships which were held in Times Square NY. BTW – I can’t believe there still are world championships for this game! The two finalists were Robert Glashuettner of Austria (age 28) and Carlos Romero of Mexico (age 27). The winner was Romero who beat Glashuettner 22,160 to 17730.  So what does the winner get? 100,000 Microsoft points, a special Pac-Man edition of the Xbox 360, and…. free Quizno’s sandwiches for the next 26 years. That’s a lot of Quizno sandwiches.
