HTC introduces the HTC Touch – an iPhone competitor
HTC is introducing a new Windows Smartphone device aimed directly at the upcoming Apple iPhone product. It’s called the HTC Touch and yes, it tries to be iPhone like in design and operation. With the Touch, you can execute commands simply by touching at the 2.8 inch 320 x 240 resolution display with your finger, or sweeping your finger in various directions. HTC calls the finger sweeping technology “TouchFLO”.
With TouchFLO, users simply sweep their finger up the display to launch an animated three dimensional interface comprising three screens – contacts, media and applications. The interface can be spun by swiping a finger right or left across the display – providing efficient access to the features that users most commonly use.
The user interface doesn’t look like your typical Windows Mobile UI as much of it contains large buttons that provide access to common activities such as content, contacts, and applications. The “homescreen” was designed by HTC to provide one touch access to emails, text messages, calendar appointments, and contacts as well as weather conditions and forecasts for hundreds of cities around the world.
Note – the Touch does have a few buttons – three of them to be exact – found below the touch screen display. That’s it though. There’s no QWERTY keyboard or dial to work with.
