Sony cuts the price of the new BDP-S300 Blu-ray player to $499
Sony Corporation announced today that they would be reducing the cost of the new BDP-S300 Blu-ray player by $100 dollars to an MSRP of $499. The BDP-S300 was initially set at $599 when it was announced back in February of this year. However with the player launching this weekm Sony decided to drop the price a bit more. According to Chris Fawcett, Vice President of Sony Electronics’ home products division, the price reduction was possible due to falling production costs and growding demand for Blu-ray products. Of course there’s no mention that competing HD DVD products are even cheaper than Blu-ray products. Spec wise, the new BDP-S300 has pretty much the same capabilities as the original BDP-S1 – except the unit is smaller.
