Gigs of memory built right into your mobile phone? That’ll soon be a reality if Samsung has it’s way. They’ve developed a new four gigabyte multi-chip package (MCP) for mobile phones that pretty much eliminates the need for external memory slots on phones (unless of course you like the idea of swapping cards back and forth on your phone). The new product is called the Samsung moviMCP and carries an embedded (moviNAND) memory solution which according to Samsung provides a “simple-to-design” memory package.

The new moviMCP combines a 4GB embedded memory card which consists of two 16 gigabit (Gb) NAND flash chips and a controller together with a 1Gb mobile DRAM chip to support the processor and a 2Gb NAND flash chip for general handset operrations. The moviMCP is currently available for OEM sampling.
