Lenovo will be introducing several new ThinkPad systems tomorrow including a new line of ultraportable systems. The new systems include the ThinkPad X61, X61s, and X61 Tablet PC. Additionally, Lenovo will be introducing several other new ThinkPad systems including the Lenovo 3000 V200, the ThinkPad T61, the ThinkPad R61 and the Lenovo 3000 N200 notebook. These new systems have one major thing in common – they all feature new widescreen display – yes.. widescreen displays are now common on ThinkPad systems. It’s about time.

Here’s the ThinkPad X61:

Let’s start with the new ThinkPad X61 and X61s systems. These ultraportable notebooks feature:

  • Improved wireless design
  • Ultra Connect II
  • Integrated pop-up antenna with improved broadband wireless throughput of more than 30 percent while increasing the range over previous models
  • Several connectivity options including WWAN, WLAN with 802.11m, GB ethernet, Bluetooth, or modem
  • With a standard eight cell battery and an extended life battery in place, the ThinkPad X61s can operate for 12 hours, the X61 for 11 hours, and the X61 Tablet PC for 10 hours
  • Includes Client Security Solution – a unique hardware/software solution to manage passwords, and encryption keys, along with optional fingerprint readers
  • 32 byte hard drive password protection
  • Optional I/O port disablement capabilities
  • The ThinkPad X61 will start at $1484
  • The ThinkPad X61s will start at $1474

We don’t have much info yet on the other new models. Here’s what we do know so far. The Lenovo 3000 V200 notebook will feature a built in optical drive and will go for $1199. The ThinkPad T61 will feature a 15.4 widescreen display and will cost at least $1215. The ThinkPad R61 will feature a 15.4 inch widescreen display and will cost $1145. The Lenovo 3000 N200 will come with a 14 inch widescreen notebook and will cost $949.
