Toshiba shows off HD DVD player and new touch screen LCD for the car
If in-car DVD systems aren’t enough to soothe your high definition desires, then you’ll be happy to hear that Toshiba is working with Alpine Electronics to deliver an in-car HD DVD player for the 2008 time frame. Toshiba is showing off just such an HD DVD player at the Automotive Engineering Exposition 2007 according to the folks at Tech-On.com.
Also being demo’d is a new touch panel LCD display being developed by Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology (TMD). Here’s a quote from the article about the panel:
TMD has integrated an optical sensor along with a transistor formed on each pixel on the panel. This technology enables the panel to detect the shadow of a finger when the panel is touched and work as a touch panel during the day. At night, the panel can sense finger touches using the backlight, which reflects when a finger touches the panel
