Are you still not happy with the speaker selection available for the Apple iPod? (I mean come on now.. there really isn’t enough of a selection is there right?) Well, if you really can’t stand what’s available in the market, perhaps you’ll be happy with one of these three new speaker systems designed for the iPod from the good folks over at Griffin Technology. Their three systems are known as the Journi, the Amplifi, and the Evolve.
First up, there’s the Journi Portable Mobile Speaker System selling for $129.99 on Griffin’s website. The Journi utilizes a unique “Wrapstand” exterior which protects the iPod during travel and flips out to act as a stand when in use. Features of the Journi include:
- Two 50mm high/mid-range drivers and two 64 mm passive radiators which use SRS WOW digital technology
- 8-10 hours of play on a single charge via AC adapter or powered USB port
- Sync the iPod with your computer’s iTunes library when the system is connected via the USB port
- Adjustable dock connector compatible with all iPod models with the dock connector
- Auxiliary audio input for other music devices
- Weighs 2.2 lbs
Next up is the Griffin Amplifi 2.1 sound system for the iPod. This is a modern looking table top designed speaker system which also happens to be made of all wood. The Amplifi features the following:
- Compact acoustically tuned wooden enclosure
- Integrated docking slot with 6 iPod adapters
- 3.5 mm stereo input jack for other types of devices
- Two 2.75 inch neodymium high/midrange speakers
- 5 inch woofer and bass reflex port
- Slim 6 function IR remote
- Changes iPod during use
- Includes AC cable

Finally, we have the new Griffin Evolve Wireless Sound System for the iPod. This product isn’t out yet so we don’t know the price but we do know one thing – it’s a unique wireless speaker system for the iPod. The system comes with two “Evolve” cubes which can be placed anywhere in your room – even supposedly in the next room over (although there’s no mention on how far you can actually go). The system comes with a charging base station which also integrates an iPod dock. Each of the Evolve speakers has it’s own Lithium Ion battery pack which is capable of delivering roughly 10 hours of music. When you need power, simply dock the cube speakers onto the charging base. Each speaker has it’s own on/off switch and an automatic sleep mode to conserve battery charge. Finally, the Evolve comes with an RF remote. Pretty nifty wireless system.
