Axis Communications has launched the AXIS 215 PTZ Network Camera – the first pan/title/zoom camera shaped like a dome camera providing full 360 degree panning with the use of a new and unique Auto-flip feature. The AXIS 215 PTZ is ideal for indoor surveillance in retail stores, reception areas, schools, offices, and other places that require both overview and zoom functionality.

Features of the AXIS 215 PTZ include:

  • Pan, titl, and zoom control over IP network
  • 360 degree pan with auto-flip
  • 48x total zoom, 12x optical, and 4x digital
  • Day/Night function with removable IR filter
  • Two-way audio, including audio detection alarm
  • Simultaneous MPEG-4 and Motion JPEG video streams at resolutions up to 4CIF allow for optimized quality and bandwidth usage
  • Video motion detection
  • Pre-and post alarm image buffering
  • Scheduled and triggered event functionality with alarm notifications
  • Multi-level password protection, IP address filtering, and HTTPS encryption

While all PTZ cameras have a mechanical stop that prevents the camera from panning a full 360 degrees, the AXIS 215 PTZ features a new unique Auto-flip feature that reverses the pan direction whenever the camera reaches the mechanical stop at 180 degrees. The camera that reverses quickly - in approximately 1 second – thereby eliminating blind spots and making it suitable for mounting in the center of a ceiling.

The AXIS 215 PTZ will be available for $999 in June of 2007.
