Apple rumor alert. Those of you thinking about purchasing a 17 inch iMac better do so soon. According to this report over at ThinkSecret.com, Apple is planning to cut the 17 inch iMac from the iMac product line during the June product refresh. With the axing of the 17 inch iMac, there will only be two iMac models available – the 20 inch and the 24 inch iMac.
Why cut the 17 inch iMac? It boils down to panel costs as the price difference between the 17 inch and the 20 inch panel is negligible these days. Cut the 17 inch out of the picture and get higher profit margins because you only have to deal with the 20 inch and 24 inch systems. There’s also less inventory to manage as a result.
So what do we do for cheaper systems? There’s still the Mac mini!
